Reskill for the Green Economy with a $5,000 to $10,000 Scholarship from RBC

The RBC Foundation introduced a brand-new scholarship program aimed at equipping workers for a new, more sustainable economy. As Canada transitions to a net zero economy, workers will require new and upgraded skills to stay competitive. With over a million Canadian jobs set to undergo “green” disruption in the next decade, the Green Skills Scholarship is one way RBC is supporting the next generation of environment-friendly workers.

Who can apply for this new RBC Foundation Green Skills scholarship?

This scholarship targets Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are 25 years or older and are starting or returning to studies at a Canadian post-secondary institution in one of the following study areas:

  • Agriculture and food production
  • Building and construction
  • Renewable energy
  • Transportation
  • Waste management and recycling

Here’s a brief overview of the eligibility requirements:

  • Adult learner above the age of 25, starting or returning to post-secondary studies to work on solutions to urgent environmental challenges — and not retired yet from the workforce
  • Enrolled in part-time or full-time dissertation or post-graduate certificate in an eligible discipline at an eligible institution — and your program must have a duration of at least two semesters

How many scholarships are available?

The RBC Foundation offers up to 30 scholarships, valued between $5,000 and $10,000 each per year, for up to two years.

The funds received from the scholarship are intended for post-secondary tuition and other associated living expenses.

How will scholarship recipients be selected?

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, here’s how recipients will be chosen:

1. Dedication to environmentalism

Successful applicants will exhibit an interest in environmental sustainability, conservation, or other related areas, particularly in the workplace.

2. Innovation

Recipients should have ideas and plans for initiatives that will help promote sustainability in their workplace or industry, with a focus on improving environmental sustainability.
